2020 has been stressful for the whole world. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of our daily lives, some more than others.

According to The American Institute of Stress:

– About 33% of people report feeling extreme stress
– 77% experience stress that affects their health
– 48% have trouble sleeping because of stress

However, stress isn’t all bad. When we are faced with a truly dangerous situation, stress has the job of sending a signal to the body to get ready to face a threat, or to run to safety.

When we are stressed, the heart beats faster, the muscles get tense, and the brain uses more oxygen. The purpose of all this is survival. Also, when our lives are not at risk, stress may act as a motivator, such as when performing on stage or taking a test.



Stress becomes a problem when there is continuous stress on the body. This may lead to serious health issues. Some of these include high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and mental disorders.

How to Effectively Manage Stress

There are some proven techniques to combat and reduce stress. One of these is to partake in a relaxing activity. Hypnosis is a great way to do this. Research has shown that hypnosis is an effective treatment for stress and state anxiety.
